The reason middle management is having a hard time initiating DEIs is because they don't understand what the hell you're doing. They weren't invited to the table. They have not been a part of any of the discussions surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion. And there's no clear plan.
So like everything else that typically happens in corporate America, either an email or a sheet of paper was handed to the middle manager and told to implement. But they have no idea why, what, how, etc.
This is part of the problem.
